Meet Sophie

Chef Bob’s joyous pup, Sophie, was a sweeter than sweet yellow labrador who lived to be 18 years old. Beautiful and full of zeal, the memory of her happy, loving personality is a reminder of companionship, everyday delight, and that certain je ne sais quoi.

Gone but never forgotten, Bob still gets to say her name everyday - she’s the namesake of Sophie La Gourmande!

Opened in May 2022, Sophie La Gourmande is a French-inspired café and patisserie in the Cedar Lee Arts District of Bob Sferra’s hometown, Cleveland Heights. With a bright neighborhood vibe, decadent pastries and artisan-crafted lunches, we want you to experience the everyday joys; whether that’s picking up a treat for yourself, meeting a friend, ordering for a crowd, or working from a table with a croissant and a seasonal latte.

Everything is made from scratch with specially sourced ingredients and prepared with both French and classical techniques. Seasonal and signature confections and dishes are designed to delight.

Sophie La Gourmande is the sister company to Sophie Events, which is a new name for an old favorite. Formally Culinary Occasions, Chef Bob has been catering intimate dinner parties, custom special events, weddings and galas for over 15 years.
